

Membership Information
Our annual registration is open to Grades 5 - 12​
(Must have 2 years experience and currently be taking music lessons)

To become a member, please apply by Monday, July 15, 2024, No Exceptions!

Nursing Home Performance
Members will earn SSL hours by volunteering musical performances at Nursing homes located throughout Maryland and Virginia.

Seasonal benefit concerts will be held to raise money for donations towards different causes/charities.

Carnegie Hall Performance
Through an audition, candidates (regardless of instrument) will be selected to perform at Carnegie Hall (154 W 57th St, New York, NY 10019) on Saturday, October 2025.

Internship Program
• Open to all members. Interns under the supervision of the director will research, study, and present a musical topic.
Benefits
• All interns will receive an Internship award and SSL hours
• ​Interns who complete a 3-year program will receive a diploma.

Leadership Opportunity
Qualifications-
• President: must be a rising 12th grader / should have been a YMIC member for at least
four years /should have at least three years of leadership experience.
• Vice-president: must be a rising 11th grader / should have been a YMIC member for at
least three years /should have at least two years of leadership experience
• Other leadership positions: rising 9th-10th graders / should have been a YMIC member
for at least two full years

SSL hours
• SSL hours will be credited according to the actual hours served at each nursing home,
special performance, and Benefit Concert.
• YMIC is a certifying organization for the President’s Volunteer Service Award, which means that upon achieving the required hours, a member can receive presidential recognition and a personalized certificate. Detailed information can be found at http://www.presidentialserviceawards.gov
